The new address implies that our Department deals with not only severe mental disorders, but also mild ones, including clinically subthreshold mental dysfunctions. Since then, our Department has treated a wide range of clinical categories. They include not only conventional and psychotic categories, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and major depression, but also recently increasing, non-psychotic categories, such as mild depression, dysthymia, adjustment disorder, anxiety disorder and so on. Moreover, we have accepted cases with neurodevelopmental disorders like autism-spectrum disorder and attention-deficit hyperactive disorder. Furthermore, cases with rare genetic conditions like Prader-Willi syndrome have been referred to our Department, for the management of their behavioral and psychological symptoms. The number of outpatients visiting our Department has increased dramatically, in 2019 there were more than six times as many patients as there was in 2007.      When it comes to research, a wide range of clinical studies have been conducted, including neuropsychology, psychopathology (philosophy of psychiatry), psychiatric ethics, child psychiatry and forensic psychiatry. Behavioral and psychological aspects of Prader-Willi syndrome have been intensively studied as a series of clinical research, which has produced six doctoral degree holders.      The number of department staff has increased, from only two (one psychiatrist and one psychologist) in 2008 to around 15 members including part-time doctors in 2022. In 2020 our Department was designated as one of the main facilities for post-graduate education in psychiatry by the Japan Medical Specialty Board and the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology. So far, we have accepted a few trainee psychiatrists every year. Whilst the history of our Department is short, we are proud of our accomplishments, having fostered a number of full-fledged psychiatrists and supplied clinical human resources to communities.
