HOME > Facility Marine Site Marine Site of KURCIS is located at Iwaya in north Awaji Island. Research building of Marine Site is provided with facility as dormitory (for 30 persons). The facilities can be used for the lectures, seminars, and workshops. We provide field sampling equipment (for approximately 30 persons) including various size of waders, wetsuits, snorkeling gear, and safety equipment such as life jackets and safety helmets. Water quality monitor, secchi disc, plankton net, dredge, Van Dom water sampler are available for marine observation. Laboratory equip for experiment such as microscopes (for 30 persons), fluorescence microscope, transmission electron microscope, thermal cycler for PCR, electrophoresis systems, and laser diffraction particle size analyzer. Two kinds of cars are available for sampling, drop offs and pick ups. The Marine Site's research vessel "Onokoro" (30-person capacity) is available for marine observations and sampling. The training and research vessel "Fukae-maru" (64-person capacity) of Graduate School of Maritime Sciences, Kobe University is also available in some programs.
